When it comes to health and fitness, a lot of companies and movements out there come in and muddy up the waters by convincing you of their own special “pill” that will solve all of your health and fitness problems, and it revolves around a magic elixir, or a special diet that has been renamed or repackaged from the past, or even supplements that don’t apply to you. The secret to these movements and fads is that it’s designed to drain your wallet and keep you dependent on them. Please stop trying the magic elixirs, the saran wraps (yes, that is actually a thing), the starving of yourself, the newest fad diet, the “supps” that you really do not need……and PLEEEAAAASSSEEE don’t let yourself be inserted into someone’s down-line in the name of “fitness” so they can support their lavish living from your wallet. Stop doing all these things that are not focused on creating a new lifestyle and new mindset for your health.
So, is there such a thing as a “magic pill” in fitness? Well, in a way, yes….. but it may not be the kind of pill that you’re probably thinking of. I believe that the only magic pill in fitness is this: CONSISTENCY. It is all about being consistent in your daily caloric intake that match up to the goals you want to achieve. For instance, if you want to lose weight, then you need a CONSISTENT calorie deficit. If you want to gain weight, then you need a CONSISTENT calorie surplus. It’s that simple: consistent calories. Consistent exercise is also a great tool that can help you to achieve specific goals, like losing weight for example, because it can help to expend calories and keep you in a caloric deficit for weight loss. Here’s the thing though, it takes effort on your part to do it. This all comes down to you. I can’t do it for you. As a trainer, I am able and happy to guide you and show you what to do, but at the end of the day, you have to do it.
Someone asked me today if I could work out a diet for them, and I told them, “no, but instead I can help you with a healthy lifestyle change.” Here’s what I mean by that. I don’t want to create a diet for someone because I’m not a fan of diets. A diet has a specific goal that, once it is reached, has an end and the person on that diet will revert back to what they did before the diet started. Diets are temporary. To me, giving someone a diet or a meal plan for 3 months is like catching a fish for someone when, instead, I would rather teach them how to fish. Showing someone how to think and how to approach healthy eating on a broader scale is a way to show them how to fish for the rest of their lives. My goal as a trainer is to eventually become irrelevant to a client because I have taught them how to do this fitness thing on their own.
This bloooog isn’t very long because the message is simple. Fitness is simple, and I like to keep it that way. I hope this helps you if you’re someone who is looking to change your life instead of following temporary fads and diets. I’m one of those weirdos who will help you out for free. I can help you figure out how many calories you need in a day. I can also show you how to eat healthy for the rest of your life. My bloooog has been and still is intended for beginners. If this is you, please feel free to ask for help. I’d be happy to do that.
